Healthy Communities Partnership addresses specific needs in Logan County through the creation of Task Forces. Whether it is an individual project or a long-term issue, we bring the critical players to the table to bring our resources together and turn our passions into action. Task Forces may be formed and funded for various projects once approved by the HCP Steering Committee through a simple process.
Alcohol Tobacco and Other Destructive Behaviors Task Force
The AToD Task Force works to promote healthy behaviors among the residents of Logan County. Substance-free lifestyles are promoted through events and education outreach. In addition, this task force oversees Safe Rides, a free ride home during public holidays to prevent drunk driving, and the Victim Impact Program which teaches DUI offenders the impact drunk driving can have on themselves or someone else.
Breastfeeding Triad Task Force
The Breastfeeding Triad Task force brings together lactation professionals from Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Springfield Clinic and the Logan County Department of Public Health along with individuals from the community who are passionate about breastfeeding. The task force is working to make breastfeeding the norm for all babies and for breastfeeding to be celebrated and better accepted in Logan County. Exclusive breastfeeding is the foundation for life-long health and wellness. Breastfeeding promotes family bonds while providing economic and societal benefits through lowering healthcare costs.
Cardio-Diabesity Task Force
The CDO Task Force works toward obesity prevention as it relates to the high prevalence cardiovascular disease and diabetes in Logan County. The HCP is a member of the Illinois Alliance to Prevent Obesity. In an effort to address the prevelance of obesity in Logan County, this task force has launched a national and evidence-based program entitled, 5-2-1-0. The program originally created by 5-2-1-0 - Let's Go! encourages 5 fruits/vegetables daily, a limit of 2 hours of screen time daily, at least 1 hour of physical activity and 0 sugar sweetened beverages daily. Healthy Families and Education Task Force
The HFE Task Force brings together Logan County professionals who provide services to children. They work together to avoid duplication of services and promote healthy behaviors for families. A variety of topics are of interest to this group including child abuse, bullying, parenting education and more.
Senior Issues Task Force
The Senior Issues Task Force helps local supporters and providers of senior services together to best provide resources and education to seniors in Logan County. Through a variety of activities including educational presentations and outreach, the task force ensures that services are not duplicated and that services provided to local seniors are effective and meaningful.
